FAQs
What is a Yantra?
A Yantra is the physical manifestation of a Mantra. Thousands of years ago in Northern India Yantras along with Mantras manifested themselves to Tantric seers. Yantra is the body, Mantra is the mind. Each represent an aspect of the universe. Yantras are constructed through a methodical process using sacred geometry.
What happens in a Yantra construction workshop?
In a Yantra construction workshop we will start gathered in a circle for introductions and a simple yoga warm up. Then we gather at the table and learn to use a compass and ruler. Next I will guide you through step step constructing the Yantra I have chosen for that day. Once the drawing is complete we break for a meal I provide. Afterwards we paint in our Yantras.
Is this open to everyone?
Yes! This is open to all ages and abilities. I have taught people ages 12 through 80.
What if I am not an artist and cannot draw?
I believe everyone is an artist. The wonderful thing with Yantras is they are created with a ruler and compass using ancient methods that are accessible to us. All you need to do is follow the steps I provide and you will be able to create one.
What is the benefit to creating a Yantra?
Drawing geometry builds neuroplasticity. Following the steps using a ruler and compass you end up using both hands equally. Engaging in this skill you are activating several brain regions at once and strengthens fine motor skills and attention. An excellent workout for your mind. Just as exercise for your body reduces cortisol, drawing geometry boosts dopamine and reduces cortisol.
