How is Thai massage different from other massage?
Thai massage is performed on a mat on the floor while fully clothed. I have a Biomat which provides therapeutic infrared heat during your massage. I work very deep using my hands, thumbs, elbows, knees and feet. I can always adjust for those who prefer a lighter touch. Thai massage is very much like having someone do yoga for you while your body is completely relaxed. You can expect to your body to feel in better alignment, joints will have improved mobility and feel overall energized after a session.
What is Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage?
This massage focuses on your belly and your organs and fascia surrounding them. This is done on a mat on the floor(with a Biomat to keep you warm with infared heat) while fully clothed. This massage is ideal for emotional release, detox, improved digestion, IBS, endometriosis, fibroids, cesarean pain, posture, stress, chronic fatigue, painful intercourse, peri menopause and post menopause.
Do you work with people with injuries disabilities and autoimmune conditions and cancer?
Yes. I have been working with this demographic for fifteen years now. I can modify and adapt to meet your specific needs so you can benefit from this therapeutic medicine. My current location involves stairs. If you can not climb stairs we can coordinate a home visit.
Do I have to be flexible to recieve Thai massage?
Absolutely not! While its great to experience those very flexible photos you see on the internet there is so much more to this massage. This therapy involves a meridian system and pressure points. These can be worked in many simple positions. Over time flexibility increases from recieving Thai massage.
How much time do you recommend I get?
On average my clients get anywhere from 90-120 minutes. One hour is a great place to start so you can get a feel for my work and see if it is a good fit for you.
How frequently do you recommend I get massage?
This depends on your goals. If you are dealing with an acute or chronic situation I recommend once a week. If you are looking for general maintenance and wellbeing every two-four weeks is good.
Is Thai massage recommended during pregnancy?
Yes! Thai massage is ideal during pregnancy because the whole body can be massaged in a side lying position. This is very comfortable for the mother. I am a doula and have had four children so I have an intimate understanding of the physical and emotion landscape of pregnancy.
What do I wear for a massage session?
You can wear loose comfortable clothing or whatever you would wear to a yoga class. This will allow for easy movement as I stretch you during the massage.
Is Thai massage painful?
Thai massage can be deeply therapeutic. However it should never feel overwhelming or unsafe. Pressure and intensity can always be adjusted to meet your needs. Communication is encouraged throughout the session.
Who is Thai massage best for?
Thai massage is excellent for anyone experiencing chronic pain, limited mobility, injuries or stress. It is great for desk workers, laborers, athletes, dancers, yoga practitioners, medical workers, mothers and anyone looking to feel more mobility and open energy in their body.
What should I expect my first visit?
During your first visit we will have a brief discussion of your history and current conditions and goals so I can best meet your needs. Your session is individually tailored for you.
Is Thai massage and Chi Nei Tsang therapeutic or relaxing?
Thai massage and Chi Nei Tsang are both deeply therapeutic and relaxing. I have had people fall asleep. It can also be quite energizing. Some people prefer doing a session in the morning because it helps them have a productive day. Others prefer one in the evening so they can go home afterwards.
What is your cancellation policy?
Because this appointment is reserved just for you there is a 24 hr cancellation policy. Any late cancellations are subject to a fee.
Do you teach Thai massage workshops?
Yes! I teach a five hr workshop for couples and friends where you learn to give a basic full body massage to your partner. I host these several times a year. Alternatively if you have a group of six people we can pick a date that works for everyone. For anyone curious about studying Thai massage this is a great place to start.
